A life devoted to sea buckthorn
For almost 30 years, the company Christine Berger has been producing sea buckthorn and wild fruit products using fruit from its own cultivation. Growing, product development, and distribution are all handled in-house. The fruit ripens free from environmental pollution and chemical fertilizers in the fields of Brandenburg. Freshly harvested, the nutrient-rich berries are gently processed. This is how the full aroma unfolds across our varied product lines.
At the Christine Berger sea buckthorn garden in Petzow near Werder (Havel) — close to the popular destinations Petzow Palace and Lake Schwielowsee — visitors can now get to know the sea buckthorn plant and other wild fruit varieties. A restaurant serving sea buckthorn specialties with a view of Lake Glindow, a farm shop, and a glass-walled sea buckthorn production facility also draw guests from near and far.
A team that knows sea buckthorn
Around 20 people work with us today. Some have been here for many years, others are just joining. What connects them all: they know our products because they’re part of making them. Tastings, field walks, product development — this isn’t siloed departments, it’s shared work in one place.
From field to product
What sets us apart from many others: cultivation, production, and distribution are all in our own hands. We don’t buy in sea buckthorn from outside suppliers. We develop every recipe ourselves. And we produce everything in Petzow, on our own grounds, with our own team. That means short distances and clear accountability. If something’s not right, there are no long supply chains for us to hide behind. It forces us to be careful.
Organic by conviction
Our sea buckthorn fields in Brandenburg are organic-certified — not because it’s a selling point, but because it’s the decision we made from the very start. No chemical fertilizers, no pesticides, no compromise on origin. Not all of our products carry the organic seal. But all of them come from cultivation we’re responsible for ourselves.
